When Love Shines

As I reflect on this ill-tempered year that is screeching to the finishing line, the most joyous of days for me was my daughter’s long-awaited wedding. There was a delay – not a Covid one. Something far more exciting – a little-bundle-of-baby-boy delay. Born in early November last year, and just four months before his Mum and Dad were due to tie the knot. It was enough for the young parents to delay their nuptials.

Fast forward to early November this year, and the little-bundle-of-baby-boy turned one, and then his Mum and Dad became Mr & Mrs. Finally!

It was the most wonderful of occasions. Held in a glorious venue in the Adelaide Hills with a particularly beautiful garden which showed off in all its Spring glory to the delight of the photographer and guests alike.

There was a snake (I didn’t see it). It tried to make an appearance just where the wedding guests walked by to reach their seats for the ceremony. Someone shooed it away.

There were beautiful clear blue skies and cool sunshine.

There was a Ford Galaxy – The groom’s other love, joy and passion. It did plenty of photobombing.

There was delicious food and plenty of dancing. Oh! how we danced!

Most of all there was love; love that oozed through the lens of every camera and phone pointed at the happy couple. Love for the bride as she walked in all her female power unaccompanied to her groom. Love in the eyes of the newlyweds, and love in the eyes of the onlookers sharing their special day.

Love from the broken-hearted and love from those just finding it all over again. Love from the bereaved and love from the joyous. Love from the young in awe of such a bonding and love from the old with a lifetime of wisdom to call upon. Love from those reliving their own wedding and love from those still waiting to find that special someone.

Love finds us all in various ways and in differing forms, and while the world is struggling to find and show love this year, there certainly was no shortage of it on this special day.
