I write all over the place but since moving to Brisbane it’s usually sitting at the kitchen bench using my laptop. My ideal writing space is definitely in the peace and quiet, and would either be a cliff top beach house overlooking the ocean, or a view overlooking a beautiful country garden, lake in the background with a couple of loved up swans gracefully gliding over the shimmering surface. Ideallic isn’t it?
I don’t find my laptop very ergonomic and prefer the feel of a traditional keyboard and good old mousey. However, I make do.
Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be going ‘walkabout’ as part of my little temping job; All over rural Queensland visiting Cairns, Mareeba, Longreach, Emerald, Mt Isa and Charleville. How exciting! Although I wouldn’t consider myself to be a ‘townie’, here I am living a stones-through from the CBD of Brisbane so I must appear to be a city chick to some. I certainly won’t be rocking up in my stilettos and mini-skirt, imagine the looks from the locals! I probably won’t even be taking my laptop so shall resort to writing in a notebook. I’m expecting to be saturated with inspiration from the Australian Outback and rural Queensland and I might even find it to be the perfect place to write. Must dash – I have a bag to pack!

Great Queensland towns to visit. Hope you get a chance to visit the Stockmans’ Hall of Fame and the
Qantas museum while you are in Longreach. Have a great trip, take the camera of course.

In fact a girl friend mentioned how fantastic the Stockmans’ Hall of Fame is. Unfortunately I’ll be leisure time poor but we’ll see what happens!
