I have a dilemma; a self-indulgent Good Friday dilemma and it’s this – where am I going to find a decent coffee tomorrow morning? My regular café is closed (I’ve already checked with them) and I know it will be the same EVERYWHERE. With our trusty Gaggia coffee machine in storage (I didn’t think that one through properly did I?) I have been relying on my limited knowledge of Brisbane coffee houses to provide me with my daily caffeine hit and I know they will be closed tomorrow.
This dilemma was playing heavily on my mind as I pounded the pavements of Kangaroo Point exercising my desk-fog away and then the local McDonald’s came into view. Now, I don’t usually pay attention to ANY fast-food joint whatsoever – they are just not in my DNA; I’d rather eat cardboard. In fact, having only in recent year’s experienced my very first Drive Thru, I exclaimed to my son ‘wow, that was quick’, ‘yes mum, that’s why it’s called fast food!’ came the response. Anyway, I’m wandering. What I was going to say is that I’m sure McDonald’s will be open on Good Friday, right? I’m sure the McCafe will be open – they have coffee beans don’t they? I’m not sure if I’m up to the Drive Thru without the guidance of a qualified son but I’ll give the coffee a go; a desperate measure for a self-indulgent desperate need!

I cannot imagine you at Maccas Lucy! I hope the hit of caffeine did the trick though.

I can’t imagine you, coffee mug in hand, perched on a seat in Maccas, no matter how desperate for coffee you may be. Thank heavens the disaster was averted.
