I am not positive but those look like the ones my mother told me they picked and ate like vegetables

I used to saute in butter early spring fern heads and eat with vinegar.

Yes that’s it. I tried them and was surprised they are not bad.

If you don’t catch them early they are really bitter.

Yeah my mom taught me that. Funny i was 40 before she even mention them and we picked some . Now i try to do it with daughter and grand children always a good thing to know about
