Having “It” – Still

As soon as I had finished writing yesterday’s post Upping the Ante, I slammed shut my laptop and toodled off to the gym.  It’s the same gym chain I was a member of in South Australia, Anytime Fitness and I do my best to go two or three times a week, mixing with walks around […]

Upping the Ante

Apparently I need to write more; I’ve had some requests to post more often but two things hold me back; time and inspiration.  I’m certainly a writer who’s been waiting for inspiration to smack her in the face but apparently that’s all wrong.  An article published on the Australian Writers Centre’s Facebook page, by The […]

His Name

I found our old childhood book while rummaging through a removal box for something else.  The cover was slightly torn but it brought a smile to my face; a well-loved book, Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne.  I opened the cover and there on the inside page his name written in blue ink in his unmistakable cursive hand-writing.  […]

Family

One of the bravest choices to make when immigrating to the other side of the world is to leave family and friends.  It’s not like it’s near enough to ‘pop’ over for afternoon tea with Auntie or catch up with the whole family over a long Sunday lunch.  It’s a good twenty-four hours and a few […]

A Spruce Up

Established way back in June 2014, I thought it was about time this wombat had a spruce up. If I was a business, my website would have had a makeover by now and my social media sites a revamp, so I thought it was time to freshen up my blog.  I hope you like […]

Day 11, A Cup of Coffee

Hi Rosemary,  it’s been a while since you and I left Adelaide and headed off in opposite directions – you to Perth and me to Brisbane.  It’s been a while too since we caught up over the phone so, we have just met for a virtual coffee – probably at the usual haunt. If we […]

Everyday Inspiration, Day 9: Writing & Not Writing

If you could step into a machine that gave you more time, how would you structure your day? What would you write with this extra time? Not being a full-time writer but rather a full-time temp, my day is full to the brim of other tasks; preparing for my working day, the drive to and […]

Everyday Inspiration, Day 8

Reinvent the Letter Format I’m cheating and hope you won’t mind?  You see, I’m time poor at the moment and have decided that you absolutely won’t mind that I’ve linked this assignment to a post I wrote back in November 2014.  It was actually a Blogging 101 assignment and the subject was my dream reader. […]

It’s a Perfect Day

It’s raining; in fact it’s pouring with no evidence of snoring.  There is no let up. Storms are lashing the east coast of Queensland heading southwards into NSW and beyond.  There is flash flooding in places and the advice is to stay indoors so that’s exactly what I’m doing.
