Apparently I need to write more; I’ve had some requests to post more often but two things hold me back; time and inspiration. I’m certainly a writer who’s been waiting for inspiration to smack her in the face but apparently that’s all wrong. An article published on the Australian Writers Centre’s Facebook page, by The Author Entrepreneurs mentions that professional writers approach writing as if it’s a job and rock up at their desks even if they have nothing to write about. Even if they don’t feel like going to work, they still have to just like the rest of us. It’s all in the practise apparently, and with this in mind I’ve set myself a challenge for September – to post something every day of the month – Yes, I KNOW it’s already the fourth but stick with me here folks. The trick is to post something worthwhile and interesting; I mean no one wants to read boring stuff do they? There is a plethora (I love that word!) of blogs covering every aspect of life, online newspapers, magazines and ebooks so it’s a battle to hit the writing world big time. Small steps……

Just pump out whatever comes into your head. Even the smallest idea will develop into a saga.

Lucy I’d like to be more disciplined too although everyday is unrealistic for me. Perhaps we ought to set up some sort of a buddy system so that one is held accountable. I have to say I have noticed you’ve been quiet but then on the other hand I tend to not read the posts of those who post every day a it’s a bit overwhelming.

Yeah I’m with you on that – everyday is overwhelming 😊

You can do it! I tried the same thing, posting for 30 days straight. Even if you don’t think you have something amazing to write about, just the act of forcing yourself to write something that comes into your head will develop the habit 🙂 after that, less willpower will be needed 😊

Lucy, how about you write everyday, but not necessarily for publication on the blog? I think the idea is to make writing part of your daily ritual. Publishing is a different goal. You need to feel comfortable with what you put on the blog. Once daily writing becomes a habit, you may find that you have more gems than you realised.
I’m great at giving advice! Now I just need to follow it myself!!
Good luck and we look forward to whatever you write! MLT

That’s a far more sensible option Mary Lou. I haven’t got a problem with writing everyday even if it’s a scribbled note or two over breakfast – thank you 😊

I second Mary Louise’s suggestion (in fact, I’m going to use it myself!).
